Call of Duty 4 …

I know this is old news but considering I haven’t been around I figured I’d throw in my two cents about COD4. I’ve been a gamer for as long as I can remember and with all the systems and software released over the years there have been very few games that were capable of not just capturing your attention but holding on to it. The vast majority of games simply do not have enough replay value to warrant a purchase when you can simply hit your local gamer store and rent. You breeze through and beat a game in days or in most cases hours only to never play it again.
With the advent of online play that all changed. The first game I can remember that had that “it” factor as far as replay value is concerned on a console was Socom 1 for the PS2. I played that damn thing for months on end. Running around pissing people off day in and day out and in a word it was addicting. Some of the Socom sequels were equally as attractive but not all. Even today on the Next-Gen Consoles (360, PS3) replay value is a concern for gamers. We wait for that game that will keep us occupied for months on end and finally Infinity Ward delivered just such a title.

While the single player or campaign mode of the game is lacking in substance the online multiplayer definitely sports the “it” factor. The campaign mode while polished and entertaining was to short in my opinion with a protracted story line. Some players like the quick “no fluff” approach in the game while I however prefer a little more back story and interactivity in a game. That aside it was one of the better single player games (Exception …Halo 3) that I had played in a very long time regardless of what console you find yourself on.
With the exception of some server issues in the first few weeks and months of the game the online play is without a doubt the best that I have participated in. It was voted Game of the year in 2007 along with countless other awards. If you haven’t played it you’re missing out and apparently live on another planet. Be warned however if you play too much you will suffer from burn out like most other shooters. I played for the first time in almost a month (Due to burn out) last night and after a mediocre game I was back to my usual form with a 2-1 to 4-1 KD/Ratio. Ownage!

I totally agree… COD4 I think lived up to my expectations and more. I always have fun playing this game, much like in the SOCOM 1 days. Although I have suggested to do some changes, like: friend invites, clan invites etc much like how SOCOM II improved on this. I think SOCOM is still the most organized game with easy to add buddy features etc. All I can say is, the next SOCOM better be guuuud! Nice post Syn!

Call of Duty 4 is the best war-game available. Anyone that can’t decide between Halo 3, Modern Combat 2,or Call of Duty 4, think about once you beat them which one will stay exciting everytime you turn it on. The answer there, is Call of Duty 4.

COD4 is the best all around shooter game you can buy or think of. It’s going to be hard for Infinity Ward to out-do themselves the only up grade they could bring to the next game is vehicle operations, but the rumor is that Call of Duty will be going back to WWII era again. Now let’s all pray they re-think this, we are in a different generation now and yes we should never forget the battles that kept our freedom but come on this is the new age of combat, keep up with the time. Call of Duty 4 is and will remain the best shooter game for some years until someone comes along and decides to make and design a game for the new age
